Unexpected Subscription Renewal: My Experience with LeetCode

I was happily using LeetCode until recently. In October, I canceled my subscription, but I didn’t receive any email confirming the cancellation. I thought it wasn’t a problem.

Today, I checked my phone and saw a $159 transaction for LeetCode. I thought to myself, What?

No problem, I figured — it can happen. I immediately contacted LeetCode. Luckily, I noticed the payment about 10 minutes after it was processed, so I expected they would be able to refund it.

However, they don’t want to. They just sent me a generic email. (See the image below.)

What did I do next? The payment was processed via Revolut, so I contacted them and created a ticket to see what could be done. Let’s see how that works out.

This experience has raised a red flag for me regarding services that don’t send confirmation emails or, even better, a reminder email a few days before a subscription is renewed. For example, Manning sends confirmation emails, which is much better.
